Day 31 of NaBloPoMo challenge!

Today is the last day of this challenge. I'm not sure how I stack up against the other NaBloPoMo bloggers that signed up, but I have shared more of my thoughts and happenings this month than other months.

I didn't say 'Happy Birthday' to my aunt Jenny (the 25th) or my sister Loretta (the 30th). So here is both of your 'Happy Birthday' from me, LOL!

One thing that I have finished is my 'Blue and White Spin' quilt. I think it turned out great! Now onto my next project!

Thanks NaBloPoMo for the challenge! Let's hope that I can keep up the momentum!

Day 27 of NaBloPoMo challenge!

Good evening!

Today I put the quilt on the frame and of course my second pass the tension was off. It is really quick to stitch across but forever to 'unstitch'. I shall finish it tomorrow I hope.

Here are a few of the sites we have seen during our walks.

Here are future suppers :)

Check out this tree. Not sure why it grew this way.

Many of the trees have a vine growing up and around them. This one looked like it was a vein all the way up the trunk.

What natural sites to you enjoy each day?

The question of the day is:
Do you enjoy being scared such as watching horror movies or reading scary books?

My answer to this is that I don't read or watch horror movies. I'd much rather watch a western (Sam Elliott, yum...), action (Harrison Ford), and sci-fi (The Mummy and Star Wars). I don't like Stephen King books, the Saw or Halloween movies, but I don't mind haunted houses.

How about you, do you like horror movies or scary books?

Day 26 of NaBloPoMo challenge!

Good evening all!
As usual I am behind on my posting. Yesterday Carl, Ella and I went to Beech Lodge #240 in Hendersonville to a craft fair. It was a long day with little return. At least I got a lot of tips and ideas while we were there yesterday. Next step is to make a list on what to get somethings done.

1. Find a lab to get Carl's lab work done
2. Quilt the quilt that is on the design wall
3. Take a couple quilts to the store in White House for consignment
4. Work on potholders
5. Get online to new site

I think that's a good start.

What is on your agenda for the week?

Day 22 of NaBloPoMo challenge!

Today we walked on another part of the walkway that White House has made through town. It is a very pretty walk and a lot of people use it. No fear of tripping and they have different trees marked along the path. I'm not sure which section we will check out tomorrow.

The question of the day is yesterday:
Orange is a colour that people either hate or love: tell us how you feel about it.

Answer: My favorite colors while I was a teen was yellow, brown and orange! Just about everything except clothes was one of these colors. I didn't look good in those colors at all. I remember one of the dresses that my mother made me was brown with orange and white flowers. I shall have to look for it. I may have a piece of that fabric in my stash somewhere. I was very lucky that my mother was a great seamstress because I sure would not have had the fantastic wardrobe that she provided without that talent. I think I was the best dressed kid in school thanks to her.

How about you, did you like the color orange?

Day 21 of NaBloPoMo challenge!

Whoops.... I missed a few days. The past couple days have just flown by for me. Today wasn't any different as I almost forgot to get on here and bug everybody again....

Our rain date for the craft fair was this past Sunday and we did okay. What surprised me was that there was only 2 crafters, myself and Scents by Suzi. Suzi was at most of the same farmer's market days with us also. We shall see if we set up next year at this show. Our next show is at Beech Lodge #240 at 3198 Long Hollow Pike in Hendersonville, TN this Saturday. Yikes, it is from 8 am till 4 pm. Long day..... They are also having a pancake breakfast! Yum!

Today Carl and I started walking again. There is a trail through town that is a nice easy walk so we went there. We would walk along the road, but there are no shoulders on the roads here in Tennessee. Then we came home and I started working on some more craft fair projects. I have been trying to think of new things I can add to my inventory that are easy. So I dug out my fall and Christmas fabrics and am making potholders. I gave a couple to Julie so that she can heat and wash test them for me. I want to make sure that they don't fall apart in the first wash. The other thing I accomplished today (besides my writing here) is helping a grand-daughter with her homework. I can't believe the amount of homework these kids have now. It just amazes me!

Well, I am off to hit the hay. I am pooped!

Day 18 of NaBloPoMo challenge!

Happy Saturday! Not much going on around here today. We did go looking for a new secondhand store in Hendersonville. We actually managed to find it with the directions I was given several weeks ago. Of course we didn't get there before it closed for the day, but at least we know where to go now. Carl & I love visiting secondhand stores, estate sale and garage sales. We usually find things that we can use for a fraction of the retail cost. We use to have a regular route and stores we visited when we were looking for things when in Arizona. The estate sales aren't very good around here, but we shall keep looking.

We have been seeing the advertisements for holiday movies and Carl wants to see 'The Bishop's Wife'. We can get it on Amazon free so that is what we shall be doing next. So I am off until tomorrow.

Until next time,

Day 17 of NaBloPoMo challenge!

Another October birthday today.... Happy Birthday, Jodi! Sure hope you have a great day!

Today was the day I took more pictures of my items to download them into my online shops. I have been posting to VarageSale as well as ArtFire. There are multiple areas that are on VarageSale and it is like an online garage sale. It is like CraigsList, but much, much better. In my area it is only females that can join and this is mostly for safety. We meet in a public place to buy/sell what we have posted. It is amazing when we are all meeting in the local Target parking lot. I also updated my ArtFire site. Then this weekend I will be at Pumpkin Festival at The Streets of Indian Lakes

The question of the day from NaBloPoMo is, When was the last time you went to a campfire/bonfire?

Answer: It has been so long ago I can't even remember.... I went to camp when I was kid and that was probably the last time for me.
How about you?

Day 16 of NaBloPoMo challenge!

No family birthday's today, but I have been working on kitchen towels all day. I have gotten all of these done since I returned from NY last week. These will be on my rack this weekend just begging for a new home.

NaBloPoMo question of the day is really 3:

What is your ideal hayride? I really don't have an ideal hayride. I think I have only been on 1 hayride in my life.

What would you bring? Well if I did go on a hayride I would probably take a warm blanket if the weather was cold.

Who would be there? I, of course would need to have my hubby with me and because there are 2 of my grand-daughters in the house I would have to include them too.

I have never been a cold weather activity person. The most winter sports that I have participated in my life is one time ice skating and I stopped sliding down hill when I was in jr high school. I have always loved snuggling down in the covers with a good book. That sure hasn't changed any for me. No matter if it is raining, sunshine, cold or hot you will always find me with a book.

What is your ideal hayride?

Day 15 of NaBloPoMo challenge!

First thing I have to say is, 'Happy Birthday, Joe'! My brother would have been 72 years old today. It doesn't seem it has been 7 years since I heard your voice and I sure do miss you!

The NaBloPoMo question of the day is, Do you usually run late, early, or on-time?

I have to say, I am usually early, but there have been times that I am late. I really hate to walk in someplace and have to jump right in the first second I get there. How about you?

Day 14 of NaBloPoMo challenge!

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Today's question is: What do you always put off to the last minute?

Answer is that I do less of this then I did in years gone by. Currently I have put off going through my e-mail, making new signs for my next craft fair, cleaning the house, and picking up my quilt cutting area. In the past my daughter can testify that she had many outfits that I never finished sewing for her. It is a joke between us quite often.

Today I did manage to apply for my state craft license, cleaned out some of the e-mail and searched for a nursing job. I have been on this computer for the past 4 hours.... frustrating at times. Now I am off to get some more towels done for my craft fair.

Don't forget to subscribe to my posts or add your e-mail address in the follow by e-mail area on the right to get all of my posts.

Day 13 of NaBloPoMo challenge!

Even though I read over the request for bloggers to join the NaBloPoMo challenge I didn't realize that there was a list with questions for different days. So after reading over things again I found the list and I am going to start answering them now. I just may go back and touch on some of the other questions on the list. If you like what you read would you please check the 'like' box at the bottom of my posts.

Q: Do you work well under pressure when it's crunch time?
A: I have to say that I do most of the time. Mostly when there is nobody hanging over my shoulder. When someone is right at my elbow all bets are off.....

October 8th question:
Which pie wins your heart as the classic autumn pie: apple or pumpkin?
A: Pumpkin. I don't remember my mother making any pumpkin any other time of the year, but she would make apple pies all year long.

It has been raining around here for the past few days. Tonight there are tornado warning out for areas east of us. I sure hope that I never experience that natural disaster. It is suppose to be clear this weekend so I will be able to get to my rescheduled craft fair.

Carl and I did get our flu shots today. So glad that is over with. Then when we got home I started on my towels again. I think I can do them in my sleep and am glad I don't have to follow a pattern anymore. It sure does go faster.

Day 12 of NaBloPoMo challenge!

Happy Sunday!

Nice quiet day today. A visit to church always makes my day seem easier.

Yesterday I managed to get some more towels ready for my craft fair. The one that we were suppose to do was cancelled due to rain. It is rescheduled for the 19th. I sure hope that it doesn't continue to rain all week.

Plans for the rest of this week are for both myself and my husband to go get our flu shots. I started getting them in 2009 after Carl had his heart surgery. I sure didn't want to bring home anything to make him sick. Then I need to get some more items done for the craft fairs this fall. I have a quilt top on the design wall that I would love to get finished. It was one that I started while I was in Arizona. Of course getting caught up on the wash after being way for a week is in the works too.

Until next time,

Day 10 of NaBloPoMo challenge!

I have to dedicate today's blog post to a "Happy Birthday, Grandma Garrett". She would be well over 100 as she was born in the late 1800's. Some time ago my husband and I were talking that we know people that lived in 3 centuries. Both of us have family that were born in the 1800's, we were born in the 1900's and grandkids that were born in both the 1900 and 2000's. I wonder what my great-great grandkids will think when they are living in the 2100's. I often wonder what I will be remembered for. I remember Grandma Garrett was a little woman with white hair braided and wrapped around her head, loved gardening and had beautiful flowers, lived in a huge old house with an outhouse not a bathroom, and a round kitchen table that always had a sugar bowl in the center. We use to visit on Sunday's and my mother use to take some of her flowers for her flowerbeds. We had some nice flowers around our house when I was growing up.

What are your memories with your family that was born 2 centuries ago?

Day 9 of NaBloPoMo challenge!

I am soooo behind.......

Day 3 was spent driving 15 hours to visit family and keeping my daughter company.
Day 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8 was spent visiting with my sister for the forth time this year. That is a record since the last time we visited 5 years ago. With this visit and problems with internet connections meant I was MIA the past 6 days.
Day 9 was driving home and getting a year older.

I have a craft fair to go to this Saturday and I sure hope that it doesn't rain. I really hate it when it rains and I am outside trying to sell my quilts and such. One of the items that sells great for me is my hanging kitchen towels.

My sister that I just visited have been making these towels for years and when we get together we shop for 'towels' and joke that there is a 'towel shortage' at 'home' because we always find 'towels' that we just have to bring home. It makes it so that we always have towels that need to have the crochet tops done. Of course this trip was like all the rest of our visits and I came home with more towels and yarn.

All of my bags are unpacked and tomorrow I think I will just sit around and get more towels ready for my craft fair. If anybody is in the Hendersonville, TN area and like craft fairs come on out to the Annual Pumpkin Patch Festival at the Streets of Indian Lake. It is a great place to see several vendors and get some unusual and one of a kind items for your Christmas gifts. See you then!

Day 2 of NaBloPoMo challenge!

I have to start this post with, "Happy Birthday, Norm!!" Norm (or as we in the family have called him for the past 52 years, Normie :)), has been a thorn in my side all these years.... Nahhh, he is a good 'kid' LOL! He is also one of the most amazing dads I have seen. I see his posts on Facebook and am just amazed! Norm is my oldest brother's first child and my mother's second grandchild. Of course I was the babysitter during family get togethers so of course I always thought he was a brat just like all the rest of my nieces and nephews! His birthday is also the first to kick off the multiple birthdays of the month. I think most of my family was born in October......

Must get busy and clean the house! It is not one of my favorite things to do, but I must clean up the mess I create when I sew and quilt.... That is the down side of my creative side.

Until next time,

NaBloPoMo challenge!

Last week as I was reading my favorite group of blogs on BlogHer I noticed a challenge to post every day in October. Of course I had to sign up so that I could get my blogging back up to speed. The icon for you to sign up is in the right sidebar. It seems that the computer work always manages to be done last when in fact I needs it to be first. I have the bad habit of spending HOURS on the computer when I finally start working it. Just a simple blog post can take several hours because I go over it so many times before I hit the publish button. I get really discouraged with bad spelling and grammar in any post that I read and I have to do everything in my power to fix any of mine. I am not saying that there are some things that I go back and read on my blog that I don't say 'WHAT?!?!' to, but overall I am happy with every post I put on here. The other thing is, I like photos in posts. Not that every post I do has photos. That is usually because they are either 1) in the phone and I haven't transferred them yet or 2) I haven't gotten around to 'fix' them. As with most of my pictures posted here I try to put my watermark on them and of course you need to re-size and crop them. All of that takes time and when you just want to do a quick post it doesn't get done.

For those that have not visited me I will give an overview of my blog. I started tabs so those that only wanted information on certain parts of my life would be able to go right to that part instead of scanning every post.

'Life' is the first tab. This is the tab that opens when you click into Coyote Quilts on blogspot. This is where I post all of my everyday things such as kids, grandkids, birthdays, and general happenings in my 'life'.

'Quilting the Kaye Wood Way' classes tab has all my information on the quilting classes that I am certified to instruct from Kaye Wood. I have taken classes from Kaye since 2009 and this year I earned the 'Permanent Certified' certificate to teach each and every one of Kaye's patterns and rulers. I listed and linked all of Kaye's patterns for easy viewing with pictures of the quilts I completed and remembered to take pictures of. I would love to schedule a class with your group just contact me to discuss dates and times.

'Quilting World' is where I try to post all of my quilting projects. Some of the posts and pictures are of quilt shows I have attended some are my projects for sale others are quilts I have made for family and friends.

'My Spiritual Side' is all things related to my Christian beliefs as a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. With the announcement that a temple was going to be built in North Phoenix, AZ and groundbreaking starting in 2011 I wanted to show the progress being made each week. Well, the weekly pictures soon went to monthly then not at all. I found it was very hard to make the time to go to the site each week and get my pictures especially after the outside was done and you couldn't see any changes other than equipment.  We moved from the Phoenix area last April and I have no pictures of the finished temple, but you can see it here. For those that always wondered what those 'Mormons' did in their temples and are in the Phoenix, AZ area now is your chance to visit one. There is an open house for general public to view this beautiful temple from October 10, 2014 through November 1, 2014. The tour is not limited to those that make an appointment. If you happen to be in the area of 51sth Ave and Pinnacle Peak and want a tour please stop. You can't believe how beautiful and peaceful this House of the Lord can be until you experience it yourself.

'Donations' is next in line. This is mostly for myself to know what and where I have donated. I would love to donate more, but as with everything else time just marches right on by. I have 2 places that I donate, the first is my time and talents to my church and the second is to hospice when I make quilts for the clients.

'Tutorials' is up next even though there is only 1 tute there. When I did this tute I realized that there was a lot more work getting a tute together than I ever realized. I get so into my work that I forget to stop and take pictures each and every step then I end up having to make ANOTHER item....

'"Challenge"' was started to get my juices flowing to get projects done in a timely manner. I have a problem with procrastination and needed a little incentive. I at least got some stuff done that I wouldn't otherwise have accomplished that year. I need to do another one this year just to stay on track.

'Vacations!' are up next. Yeah, this is where I try to post all of our vacations, even the little day trips we sometimes take. We have had some amazing discoveries with our little day trips. Here is one fun day that I really enjoyed.

'Coyote Quilts on ArtFire' is a link to my ArtFire site. While I have been doing this post I have checked to make sure all my links are working correctly. When I first started writing this post the link was looking weird, but it has changed again in the last 15 minute, I didn't realize that it was going to be a complete overhaul of ArtFire (I know I received an e-mail about it a bit ago) and as with everything new I will have to get use to it. One thing that is really nice is that the pictures are HUGE now. You can see items a lot better without clicking through to the next page. The other changes are going to take time getting use to.

'Coyote Quilts on Facebook' is my link to my Facebook business page. Usually I manage to post more over there because I can just snap a pic on my phone and post. Only downfall with that is that I don't have my watermark on all of those pictures. If you are a Facebook fan click on over and 'Like' me!

In the right sidebar is multiple different icons  some with links embedded and others are just interesting information about me and my blog. So grab a cuppa' and check out my 'Life' and let me know what you think in a comment!

To keep up to date with me fill in your email address in 'follow by email' box.

Thanks for visiting!

Until tomorrow,
