I loved your blog...you have a good balance talking about quilting and your family. I enjoyed seeing the pics that you included.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win!
Micki
This is my first visit to your blog. I am amazed at how the rulers make up such beautiful patterns. I especially like the Windmill. Thanks for participating in the Fall in to Fall giveaway. It has been fun to find new blogs along the way.
ReplyDeleteI like the Starmaker 6 ruler. The things I like seeing in a blog are what people do when they don't feel like sewing.
ReplyDeleteI enjoyed reading the instructional part of your blog.
ReplyDeleteWell I am personally always looking for more about quilts. (even though I am TERRIBLE about updating my own blog) I do enjoy learning about the blogger, I just love the quilts! Thanks for hosting a giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun giveaway..... Thanks!!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win. When you get a chance check out my giveaway.
ReplyDeleteWell, since you asked....I follow blogs that have at least a 70% quilting to 30% other stuff ratio. (Honestly, I prefer 80/20 and strive for 95/5 on my own blog). I like blogs that post a couple times a week (on the average) with process as well as "ta-da". Remember to ask your followers for advice, then follow up on what you decided.
ReplyDeleteI love your star wars quilt. I have a few little boys who have been begging me to make them each one. I just can't find the fabric. Your grandson is one lucky little man!
ReplyDeleteI think your quilts are beautiful and it would be interesting to read about both - your life as well as your quilts!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance!

This is my first visit to your blog. It's nice to know that you're a certified Kaye Wood Instructor, and I'd really enjoy seeing more of your work. Please post more pictures! Thanks for the chance to win your giveaway!!
ReplyDeleteI like the 'Starmaker 6' ruler but I don't know which of the two quilts I like better, 'A-Maze-Ing' OR 'Stacking My Block"!!!
ReplyDeleteStar maker 6 ruler & stacking my blocks.
ReplyDeleteI really like how your blog is set up. I love your tabs, and now you have me interested in finding out how you did it! Your blog is very friendly!
I love star quilts, I am trying to learn enough about quilting and get the guts to start one! :) T hanks for the giveaway!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great blog. :) I couldn't get the links to work to check out the rulers and patterns, but they sound wonderful, (and considering I'm still new, I can use all the notions I can get my hands on!) :) By the way, I love the quilt you made for your grandson, so cute! I actually have some book panels that I've had sitting around and now you've given me a new idea for how to use them. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for a great giveaway!
~Teresa
I have been thinking about the Kaleidescope & Starmaker 8 combination as I saw it on one of Kaye's youtube demos. So glad I found you through the fall into fall bloggers list!!
ReplyDeleteHappy Quilting, Heather =)
Hey Sharon,
ReplyDeleteYour blog is looking good girl. I didn't know you were a Kaye Wood certified instructor...cool! I like how you have your links set up and as always....enjoy seeing all of your projects!
Hi there. Nice to look through your blog and see your grandkids. Part alligator in your family, or are they crocodiles. Just kidding - the kids are cute. I would love to see more of your quilting too. I couldn't get the links for the giveaway items to work - I got an error message when I tried them. But I see others were able to look. I don't know what a Kaye Wood quilt or method is so was keen to look at them.
ReplyDeleteThe blog is very well organized, I especially like the topic links at the top; since I don't know you personally I'm going to vote for more quilting content! I also liked your recent post on the tablerunner, where you included a "whoops" picture; it's reassuring to know that seasoned quilters make mistakes too.
ReplyDeleteI've had a Kaleidoscope in my head for awhile now, so the Starmaker 8 would be my choice if my name came up; it's a great pattern with worlds of possibilities!
I like the photos of the quilts best, I always love to see what other folks are making. It's always inspirational. I couldn't get the ruler links to work so googled it, and had a chance to look. I would have to think a little bit, but probably ruler 7. I need to make a kaleidoscope quilt before too long :^) mary6850 at gmail.com
ReplyDeleteI became a follower because when I have time I would like to come back and visit you more. I'm interested that your a certified Kaye instructor of course but would love to learn more about you. I thought it was interesting what you wrote for your giveaway....we have similiar feelings if you have time check mine! You will see what I mean.
ReplyDeleteI think your site is a good mixture of quilting & family. Just enough to make it interesting and fun. I think w/o seeing the rulers that I would like the 7" one because of the name. cwhippc@aol.com
ReplyDeletestopped my to take a look. fun blog
ReplyDeletehope you have a great day

I love a mix of quilting/sewing and family to read on blogs. You have it well organized. I like the quilting inpirations. I am new quilter and will stop back for some more. Thanks!
ReplyDeleteBlogs that have tutorials are my favorites. So... I like your blog! When I first saw the quilt on the header, I thought "Awesome!" and then, I saw that you teach us how to do it. Thank you... for that and for the chance in your giveaway. :)
ReplyDeleteI enjoy reading the tutorials about quilt making..I'm still trying to learn all that I can.
ReplyDeleteI like reading about a mix of quilting, family and just life in different parts of the world. When I was a teenager, I had oodles of penpals from around the world and blogging reminds me a bit of that.
ReplyDeleteI don't know which of the star maker rulers and patterns I would like but I do know of Kaye Woods and I am fond of kaleidoscope quilt patterns.
Thanks for participating in the blog hop.
Regards from a Western Canadian quilter,
Anna
I enjoyed browsing through your blog. I personally like blogs with mostly quilting photos with a little family life thrown in, makes me feel like I can get to know you. And interesting photos thrown in once in a while is fun too, like your alligators on the side of the road photo.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the opportunity. I enjoyed learning that you are a certified instructor and reading more quilting.
ReplyDeleteI think more quilting content would be nice. I would love the kaleidoscope pattern and ruler.
ReplyDeleteI like blogs that mainly focus in on quilting. I also like blogs that have tutorials too. Thank you for having a give away, Sharonj.
ReplyDeleteMy mother and I used to watch Kaye Wood on PBS and enjoyed her programs. I would need to look at the rulers again to know which to select (thought it was a 7 and you didn't list that- probably would be the 6). Re: your blog. I like that it loads quickly. A few photos is good, and writing with more white paragraphs and lines between them would make it easier for my older eyes to read. I enjoy reading about the quilt process, and it would be helpful to understand the advantages of your techniques (vs Eleanor Burns or others). Thanks for this giveaway. mlwright29 (at) hotmail (dot) com
ReplyDeleteThis is the first time visiting your blog. It's nice, but I think you could add a little pizzaz with a more updated background? I like the colorway, but it's pretty plain. I admire you for doing the 90 day challenge and blogging about it. I have a hard time meeting my goals and don't know if doing things publicly would help me meet them or I'd just be embarrassed for being all talk and no doing in front of so many people.
ReplyDeletewhimsyfox@gmail.com
I love your blog, and will be back to look at it more. I found it easy to get around, not to "fussy" so easy to find things. I couldn't get the link to work
ReplyDeleteVERY nice blog - I will be back to read more!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much for the opportunity to
participate in the Fall giveaway!
What a genereous giveaway! Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteWhat a great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteIt is nice to see that your blog shares quilting AND living. After all....that is what our lives are about.
I'm a very new blogger....only 3 months into this journey to blogland. I like the tabs at the top of your page. I'll have to try and add that to mine. Great giveaway, thanks for the chance to win. I've got a giveaway offered too....please check out my blog and see how the new girl on the block is doing........
ReplyDeleteFrankly, I like your blog as is and wouldn't change a thing. I'm sorry to have read about Ms. Wood's husband and am sending my prayers for comfort for the entire family.
ReplyDeleteI have the Starmaker 6 and have used it once with great enjoyment, I'd be thrilled with either of the other two having decided I will grab them at some point to have on hand so I'm excited I have this chance to win one. :)
Love this give away, any ruler would be great! Thanks
ReplyDeleteconnysquilts@live.nl
Wonderful give away!! I would love to try these new (to me) techniques!
ReplyDeleteSheilaC
Great giveaway! I would love to see more quilting and pictures! This is a new technique for me! Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI like the 6" with the stacking my block thanks for a great giveaway
ReplyDeleteI like the balance you have found on your blog...I'm fairly new to the blog world and am still finding my balance...everyone has their own thoughts of how they want their blog...I say do whatever inspires you to do with your blog. I love going to Kaye Woods site and watching her video's. I'm a self taught quilter and being able to watch video's has help greatly. Isn't Kay Wood great and quilting her way is wonderful hey...Good Luck to everyone. Come on over to my blog although not as elaborate as yours...I'm participating in the giveaway also...go ahead and enter if you get the chance.....mommamea43@hotmail.com
ReplyDeleteThis is a great giveaway. You have a nice blog - it is a nice balance of quilting and life. I haven't used the rulers, but anything that makes things easier is great by my book!
ReplyDeleteWhat a wealth of information your blog is ...this is my first time here but it won't be the last!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the chance to win your give away.
I love your blog. Easy to find my way around.
ReplyDeleteGorgeous quilts!
I'd love to win the 8" with the Blazing Stars pattern.
:o)
pippirose59 at gmail dot com
This is my first time here, and believe it or not, I've never heard of Kaye Wood, or her way, but it sure looks pretty and fun! They are all so pretty, I have no idea which one I want - I want 'em ALL! I like how personal your blog is - I loved the pics from Tucson!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite is the Starmaker 8 and the blazing star. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteHello, this is my first visit and I like your blog just fine! I am new to blogging so I don't know too much about it any way to be picky. I too have not heard of the Kaye Wood way but it looks lovely and your journalling says it is easier than it looks so I believe you! I would be thrilled to try any of the rulers and patterns. When things get fixed on her site I'll go have a look. My kids love Kaleidoscopes though so I would probably pick that just by the name! I left a comment on you Sept 17th post it was just too funny!
ReplyDeleteI am amazed that these rulers can help me make a quilt like Jumping Jacks or Stacking My Block. My points are awlful on my quilts. I only wish I could get points like those. I quilt simple patterns because of this. I am a follower now.
ReplyDeleteI couldn't open the links to choose a prize, but I'll try again later. I like your blog. In fact, I used the same template when I kept a blog of my travels called "Ribbon of Highway." We have some of the same tastes.
ReplyDeleteI like your blog and will be back for sure. Glad you participated so I could visit.
ReplyDeleteI like your blog and how well it is organized. I'm a new follower, so am going to look around a bit more:) The ruler that makes the Blazing Star is the one I would pick:)
ReplyDeleteYou have a nice blog and it will nicely organized. It must be interesting to do the Kaye Woods quilting way - she has some wonderful ideas.
ReplyDeleteBrilliant prize, thanks. I love looking round blogs at the crafty things people have produced - your quilts are amazing and I love the 4-years in the making Christmas banners! It is nice to learn a little about the blogger's life, but the crafting is my main focus.
ReplyDeleteGreat giveaway! Please enter my name in the drawing. I have never heard of quilting the Kay Wood way, but it does sound interesting. The ruler looks very useful and I would love to win one and learn this method.
ReplyDeleteNice giveaway! I like bloggers who let us know about the person making all these great quilts, but that mostly feature the quilts. I come because I want to get to know you and be inspired by your work. Does that make sense?
ReplyDeleteThanks for being so generous,
kelli
kellbell_6@hotmail.com
Just found your blog. But I love looking at the quilts and getting inspiration. thanks for the chance
ReplyDeleteI'm all about quilty blogs. I love quilt pictures. I've been wanting to learn Kaye's method.
ReplyDeletePromote your giveaway on the new Quilty Giveaways site (it's free) help me grow a one stop site of fellow quilters that are hosting giveaways. Don't forget to follow the new site too!

id love the starmaker 5 ruler...ive been longing to make some windmill quilts in all neutral colors!
ReplyDeleteI like your blog becuse it's so well organized. I like the quilty bit and I can go straight to it and not have to wade through "other stuff!".
ReplyDeletethanks,
jjandarh@hotmail.com
Thanks for the generous giveaway. I love the windmill pattern and the Starmaker #5 ruler. What a great set of rulers and patterns.
ReplyDeletePersonally, I like a mix. Maybe 70% textiles (quilting, sewing, yarn, needlework) and 30% personal. Pictures are great along with inspiration and give and takes in the form of swaps, tips, info. etc. Makes it more personal to feel like your getting to know people.
ReplyDeleteI like that you post about your family and trips as well as your quilting/sewing adventures. I also like that you throw the random photo in there. Like the one of the alligators. I am from Florida.
ReplyDeleteI would like the windmill pattern and the Starmaker #5 ruler if I win.
Thanks for the give away.
I kept getting the error so will only choose at the end if I win.
ReplyDeleteI like more craft/cooking content and just a bit of the personal; but it's your blog so do as you wish. I read blogs for crafting purposes, recipes and the occassional decorating ideas. It's nice to see where people live and what makes there part of the country special.
freeindeed at myfairpoint dot net
I love the way you posted your mistake on the table runner! You quilt like I do LOL! It is so nice to know someone else out there makes oops like I do. Thank you for participating in the blog hop and giveaway!
ReplyDeletewild_blue_farm@yahoo.com
I enjoyed your site. I love recipes and would love to win the rullers
ReplyDeleteI like the way your site is set up. No need to scroll through posts that don't interest you. Yes, the ruler site is still down. I just tried it and got programming fata. Bummer. So without seeing the quilts themselves I'd say the Windmill quilt. I'm assuming it would be pinwheels. I like them.
ReplyDeleteok--the joke on Set 17th made me almost spit my coffee at the screen!! LOL Too funny! I am now a follower!!
ReplyDeleteI'm such a new quilter; have only made the Turning Twenty pattern and am trying to broaden my skills. If I win, would you, please, choose for me?
ReplyDeleteMany thanks.
This is my first visit!
ReplyDeleteI love these blog hops which introduce us to so many different blogs
Gill

ReplyDeletektyoung1(at)gmail(dot)com
I like reading the challenges you make for yourself. What a great idea to keep yourself on task. I also love pictures when I visit a blog. Thanks for the great giveaway.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the nice giveaway. Love the pictures on your blog.
ReplyDeleteI love your 90 day challenge and am inspired by your being a self taught quilter. I hope to turn out beautiful quilts like yours someday.
ReplyDeleteThanks for your giveaway-I like the Kaleidoscope! I like it when bloggers show pictures on how they did their projects. It makes it easier to understand the process for those of us new to quilting. So keep posting pictures ok12
ReplyDeleteHi! I have never heard of "Quilting the Kaye Wood Way". Of course I checked out the link you posted; I am surprised what you can do with specialty rulers. I have always used my straight edge, but it would be fun to have a short cut!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the giveaways. I never knew there were such thing as speciality rulers. live and learn
ReplyDeleteTHANK YOU for the idea about taking a fabric story book and using the 'pages' as quilt squares!!! I have had a Christmas story book in my stash for about 8 years now and you just gave me a plan!!!! I like your blog and I love how the quilting has its own tab. I am a new quilter and look forward to reading more inspiration from your blog! Thanks for a chance to win!
ReplyDeletecanadiankristin@gmail.com
What a great question!! I loved a couple of the answers, because it is something I am always wondering myself.
ReplyDeleteI am a new follower, and am going to be looking around to soak up some learning from you!
Thanks for the opportunity to win one of these rulers/patterns. How fun. I like to see pictures of works in progress and of course finished quilts. Photos of people's sewing rooms also interest me!
ReplyDeleteI love to see lots of quilts and/or sewing projects on blogs. I agree, I also like to see sewing rooms and storage ideas.
ReplyDeleteThe Blazing Stars is really neat. I've never done anything like the Blazing Stars so I'd love to give it a try.
ReplyDeleteI love to read about all aspects of people's journeys as it relates to sewing/quilting/stitching. I love to read about what inspires people....what excites them and encourages them to create.
Smiles,
Kelly
I like the mixture of quilting and family.
ReplyDeleteI love the picture of the little guy and his new quilt. I hope that's the look my grandson had when he recieved his new quilt. And you found out how to do the tabs, I have a friend who will be walking me through that one soon. Hope I win, I would love to make the "Stack my Block"
ReplyDeleteI LOVE your blog! The colours the info, all of it! I am new to quilting and completely addicted, my horses are happy about that since they don't get ridden in the summer now LOL! Anyways, I am self-taught also (started in July '10) and had no idea that so many folks out there quilted, let alone there were so many blogs of Quilters around the world?! WOW! Thank you so much for sharing, I'm following now and will visit often! *HUGS*
ReplyDeleteI like for it to be all about quilts....lots of photos and quilting tips! Thanks! ♥
ReplyDeleteOH MY GOODNESS! A Davis sewing machine! I had no idea!!!!!! I just yelped and woke up my son's nap. My 3 yr old son's name is Davis after my husband's mother's maiden name. I'm a newbie to quilting, but had no idea they made Davis machines. Kaye is one of my fav's that I used to watch on PBS before they took her off. (humpfing indignantly). I would love a chance at the star maker 8 with the Blazing Star. Thank you so much for your generosity! Happy Fall to you!
ReplyDeletensue21702 at gmail dot com
PS. I like how your blog is set up with the top tabs, so that content is seperated from Quilt world to vacation etc. (Whispering...but hopefully some vacations include quilting!)
I really enjoyed reading your blog..it was very interesting..I just started to blog so I am just finding it interesting to read other bloggers.....thank you for the generous giveaway...I would lover the Starmaker 5 ruler and the Windmill pattern..I love that pattern...
ReplyDeleteI like your blog just the way it is...I think you do a great job balancing everything. Even though we all love quilting, we all love learning about each other's lives and becoming like family across the world...at least, I do!
ReplyDeleteOh, and I love the Blazing Star pattern and ruler.

Thanks for a great giveaway. I would have to try that star blazing pattern! Thanks for the chance.
ReplyDeleteI've had a little look round your blog and I must say I like the section about your quilts and the pictures of your oh so tidy sewing room.
ReplyDeleteGeorgie x
Wow, like windmills and blazing star.......... but would be more likely to make a windmills quilt I believe!
ReplyDeleteI found your blog very reader-friendly, and will surely be back after the hop. I am amazed at the beautiful star patterns, and also like the windmill.

Thank you so much for this wonderful giveaway. I have been perusing your blog. I am a new"er" quilter, actually have sewn for 20 years but have just started really doing some quilting. I have been interested in doing a swap and saw that you have done several. I think it is something I would like to get doing, I went to my first 'quilt club' today, and they were talking about one's they have done as a group...it must be the way to go. It does look like alot of fun.
ReplyDeleteHI I've had a lovely look around your blog. I really enjoy blogs that have pictures in each post and where the post is not too long. I'd rather break up into 2 or more than one long post. I think a lovely header picture can make people browsing want to stay around and look at blogs too(of course pictures need to be made small enough so that they don't take too long to load. I really really love your sewing machine finds too!!!!Good luck with your blog. I have always wanted to make a blazing star pattern so that ruler would be my choice.
ReplyDeleteI am an Accuquilt Go Cutter owner and fan so I would not be interested in Kaye Woods rulers but I do like your blog. I love blogs about quilting. I enjoy seeing othere peoples quilts and tutorials about quilting. Thank you for taking part in this blog hop.
ReplyDeleteYour blog is lovely to read. I love the quilt photo's but also the family photo's very much.
ReplyDeleteI don't knew the rulers but they look very handy, esp. starmaker 5, thats a pretty one !
cazwa1962@gmail.com
cool stuff! Thanks for the giveaway.
ReplyDeleteVery useful giveaway - and pretty patterns too - thanks....
ReplyDeleteHugz
I enjoy the pictures of the quilts. I'm new to quilting and devour any tutorial information I can get my hands on. The learning process is loads of fun. I would love to try making Blazing Stars using the Starmaker 8. Thanks for being part of the Falloween fun. Happy quilting.
ReplyDeleteStarmaker 8 with Kaleidoscope looks fun.
ReplyDeleteI like your blog you have a good mix of quilting & family!
ReplyDeleteThank you for the chance to win!
Seems you got a even amount of quilting and family, All the quilts look hard so?? maybe i should get hands on help?
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure this is the first time I'm at your blog. I like that the colors are soft and that there's not a lot of flashy stuff all over the place. Easy to read. Thanks for counting me in.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the instructions and projects on your blog. Love that even an expert can get the blocks sewn together "wrong"
ReplyDeleteDecisions on which starmaker... Like both the windmill and kaleidoscope patterns...
Thank you for having this great givewaway.

I would pick the 'Starmaker 6' ruler with the 'A-Maze-Ing' pattern. Thank you for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI love blogs with photos. Perhaps you could add more. I love the Star Wars quilt! My grandson (6) is big on Star Wars right now. I'm working on a quilt for him for Christmas. Thanks for the chance to win.
ReplyDeleteI always love hearing more about a person's personal life. What makes them tick...how does what is going on in their life contribute to their quilting decisions...but your blog is very, very nice!
ReplyDeleteAnd, I'm now a follower of your blog! I only wish I would have found it sooner...
Love your blog! I checked out the rulers and patterns, oh my, the stack my blocks is what my 16 year old has been looking for! I love the blazing star personally.
ReplyDeleteSo very pretty.
Thank you so much for the chance to win your give away.
Happy quilting,
Gin
I also like to hear other people's mistakes. I don't feel so stupid when I make my own. :) I've never used Kaye Woods rulers, but I'm rather new to quilting. They look very helpful. I think my favorite would be the Starmaker 5, but it is so hard to choose.
ReplyDeleteThanks for participating!
Thank you for having this giveaway.
ReplyDeleteStarmaker 5, Windmill.

I like the Challenge section. Having a deadline can help a lot with finishing a project. Maybe setting a time frame would help me finish my projects.
I love blogs where I learn something and love seeing what everyone is making!! I get great ideas!!
ReplyDeletethanks for the giveaway.

ReplyDeleteI have enjoyed your blog. Especially about the hand turn machines. I have never seen any like that, only the old treadle machines. How hard would it have been to make a quilt using those machines.
ReplyDeleteI love your blog, having it and talk 50% quilting and 50% family's a good balance... you can set a background for it sometime if you'd like, I'd love your hubby could pull my name out of the hat, crossing my fingers!!!
