Good Morning America!

On a corner not far from home is a retirement trailer park that flies a huge American Flag. I see this flag three of the four mornings on my way to work. Some mornings there isn't any wind, others the flag is just about straight out from the flag pole. This morning Carl and I went out and took pictures of this flag as the sun rose. When we first set up there wasn't any wind at all and as the sun rose it was like the flag was saying, 'Good Morning'! I have had a fascination with large flags every since I drove cross country with my mother and father-in-law back in 1991. The first really large flag I saw was from the table in a motorhome in Oklahoma City. I still remember the feeling I had when my eyes landed on that flag. I still get the same feeling and reflect what it means to me and this country. We also live not far from Luke Air Force Base and as I write this I can hear the jets flying overhead as they head out for training. Some around here just complain about the noise, but each and every time I hear them I have to say a silent, 'Thank you' to those that are working so hard and have volunteered to defend our country, our flag. So, thank you to all military past, present and future for doing what you do! Now here is how this flag greats each morning.

Happy New Year 2014!

This year started with no wheels to go to one of my favorite quilt shops yearly fat quarter sale. I guess I really didn't need any new fabric, LOL! I did manage to get into my sewing room and clean a little bit. As usual after projects I neglect to take care of everything that I pulled out to work with. With a little more time in there I may be able to see my cutting table :).... I have plans to get a few projects done in a timely fashion this year so the cutting table HAS to be clean. I have about 16 different fabrics to make some pocketbooks (or purses to others) that I want to do and I have several flannel quilt tops ready to quilt. It will be nice to get some of my 'to dos' in the 'done' pile and get it on my Artfire site. The hardest part doing that is getting the photos taken, loaded, edited then put on the site.

Happy Birthday Mom!

Another year has gone by and as usual on this date my mind goes to my Mother. We use to travel around looking at all of the Christmas trees in other people's homes and she always liked the way the one colored lighted trees looked. She had remarked that she would like an all blue tree so I went out and bought enough blue bulbs for her to have a blue tree one year. I have to admit that I didn't like it even before we got the silly thing all decorated. Well, when we took it down Mom admitted that she really hadn't liked it as much as she thought she would. We never did have an all blue tree again.

November!

Everybody on the social media arenas started a daily 'blessing' note. There are so many things that I am thankful for this year that I can't list all of them. The biggest blessing I have this year is that Carl is here with me. I have a plaque on my wall that says, "We may not have it all together, but together we have it all", which is so true.

As I am writing this I am watching 'Wagon Train' on MeTV. It is so cool because 2 actors on this episode we met at different western festivals. Ruta Lee and Robert Fuller. Robert Fuller has been at most of the western festivals that we have gone to over the years, but Ruta Lee we have only seen once. Both are great people to be around and very friendly. Ruta has the best smile and a great sense of humor. We just love being able to go to the western festivals to see our 'heroes'! You have to check out the 'friends' pictures on Ruta's site. The ones with James Stacy, Paul Petersen and Ruta on the 4th page were taken in Kanab, UT and Carl & I were standing right next to them when the picture was taken! Cool huh?

Happy Thanksgiving!

Just a quick note on this, "Black Friday" to say I sure hope you all had a very Happy Thanksgiving! We had a very nice day and dinner at Coby's yesterday! Thank you, Addie for another fabulous thanksgiving dinner! I also have to mention that it was Kelly's birthday, too. She has decided that she is 29 (again), LOL! Love you, Kel!
